Extra Mile Challenge

With our anniversary upcoming next week, Sam and I, like most couples, are having fun planning a special celebration of our union. We actually both have the day off (!), and we’ll spend it traipsing around the trails off the Blue Ridge Parkway.  For a lot of couples we’ve talked to, those milestones (anniversaries, birthdays, etc) seem to be the one big ‘shebang’ for honoring and celebrating your partner and your lives together. Do you find that’s true for you?

View your relationship as you would a child that needs nurturing, or a garden that needs tending. You wouldn’t feed your child a single huge meal once a year and expect her to grow and flourish would you? The same with a garden. Sure, it’s nice to spend the occasional full day working in it, especially when you’re just getting started, but what it really needs is frequent, consistent, small amounts of love and attention to produce a beautiful and successful harvest.

Don’t be overwhelmed at the prospect of consistent nurturing your relationship; we’re not talking thousand dollar trips, wine and long-stemmed roses every week! Small doses of honoring your partner in creative and fun ways can do wonders for your intimacy and overall happiness together. Most of our weekly date nights are fairly low-budget (with an occasional kicked-up special every once in a while). Feed your sacred relationship daily with words and small acts of affection; it may feel awkward at first, if it’s been a while since you’ve acted like newlyweds. But dust off the old Romance 101 lingo and give it a whirl. See how THAT affects your harvest, folks J!

With this idea in mind, we’ll be sharing weekly ‘small dose’ ideas on our Facebook page, especially for our ‘fans’. We’re calling it our Extra Mile Challenge, for those couples who are willing to give just a little extra effort in maintaining their Sacred Relationships. You’ll get fun, inexpensive date night ideas, creative acts of gratitude, and simple ways to honor your partner. Be sure to ‘Like’ our Facebook site to get your weekly shot of EMC.

In Sacred love,

Julie
